See the Instructional Guide for TEKS and NHES matrices.

Grade 3 Curriculum

The Project Heart: Activities for the Classroom lesson plans designed for Grade 3 provide comprehensive, age-appropriate materials to teach heart-related anatomy, nutrition, and exercise. An instructional guide is available for additional information.

Anatomy  Lesson Plan 1  
Anatomy: What Does the Heart Do?

Goal: The students will understand the basic functions of the heart and identify its main parts.

Nutrition  Lesson Plan 2  
Nutrition: Making Healthy Food Choices: Go Heart!

Goal: The students will understand that personal health decisions and behaviors affect their health. They will recognize that the body needs foods from all the food groups in order to receive the nutrients it needs to grow and stay healthy.

Goal: The students will understand the relationship between physical activity and a healthy heart.
